Your gate-light companion

Raise an original companion through exploration, care and a three-part journey with Luma.

2 minute read · Development preview guide

Begin beside Luma

  1. Reach level 3 and earn credit for defeating five Glitch Slimes. Earlier journal records count toward adoption.
  2. Speak to Luma in Firstlight Square and open her Companion tab. Choose Awaken Cinderseed. Adoption costs no gold or materials.
  3. Open More → Companion anywhere to check your next chapter, show or hide the gate-light, or tend it.

Grow a shared bond

After adoption, each credited defeat of a damaging creature no more than three levels below your character grants one bond, up to 80. Credit follows the normal server rules; last-hitting another player's hunt does not automatically give credit. Bond does not multiply for Champions, class changes or token holdings.

Tending costs one Dew Herb and adds up to five bond once each UTC day. This is optional. There is no hunger, offline decay, lost evolution or penalty for missing a day. At full bond, tending refuses the herb instead of wasting it.

Three chapters

  • A light without a home — Cinderseed. Luma entrusts a small gate-light to you after the starter requirements.
  • A lantern for the road — Lanternling. Return to Luma with 20 bond, three distinct visited places, three Wisp Dust and 10 gold. Awakening consumes the materials and gold but retains bond.
  • Bring the dawn home — Waylight. Return with 80 bond, five visited places, a Broken Gate clear, five Memory Fragments, one Gate Relic and 35 gold. This is the final form in this release.

Appearance, ownership and controls

The companion belongs to this saved character, follows every class and cannot be traded. Rest in lantern hides it; Travel beside me shows it again. Hiding does not prevent bond growth. Nearby players see the visible form, not your private bond or care record.

Companions provide no damage, defense, healing, automatic loot, drop-rate advantage or token entitlement. No wallet connection or ASCEND purchase is involved.

Use reduced motion in Settings to stop the idle float. Companion panels block movement and held attacks while open, but the shared world continues: read in town when possible. Companion actions are unavailable during arena practice.
